It's Great Lakes Chili Dogs, not G&L, but the Greek chili dogs are identical(I can't tell the difference...and I notice EVERYTHING). Their fries are better than G&L's(rigged as opposed to G&L's shoestrings). But the biggest difference is the ambience. The friendly owner, employees, and environment alone are enough to make one want to return, as opposed to the very chain-like G&L. That having been said, this isn't all about Great Lakes vs. G&L. Great Lakes stands on it's own as a great hot dog place, with great quality. As far as hot dog stands go, you couldn't ask for much more.

Formerly G & L, now Great Lakes Chili Dogs is a nice local joint with great service, good value, and incredibly friendly owners. The atmosphere is pleasant, with the kind of plastic booths and baskets you would expect, very clean and efficient, family friendly. I find the food to be good but not stellar. Burgers are tasty but not mind-blowing, fries are nothing special, onion rings are decent but unmemorable. The sausages they serve are more flavorful than the hot dogs, which I find to be lower quality bland boiled-at-home style, but my family really loves (go figure). Their special recipe Cincinnati - Coney style chili is very good, however, no beans and a hint of cinnamon, definitely raising up the quality overall from meh to worthy of a visit. We return periodically because sometimes we're in the mood for chili dogs, and these are the best in town.

In the top tier of chili dogs I've had... No beans in chili sauce (a plus in my book) - I might have tasted a tinge of cinnamon in it - their own recipe; hot dogs size average to bun-sized - their 'special' two C-dogs and fries - excellent value. I asked for fries well-done and they were average cooked - though good. Service was prompt, friendly and fast. - wanted to add something about the flavor and value as was crunched for time on prior review. (returned the following day as I passed through for business)

These are basic Michigan style chili dogs. They are served quick and hot and the staff is very friendly. I've also had the burgers which are good as well. The drive through is good for a speedy lunch.

This place is great. Good food for a good price. The employees actually seem to like working there as well. I've never had a bad customer service experience. That is almost as important as good food to me. Though they should include a packet of Tums with their meals :)

Well it's Great Lakes Chili Dogs now, but every local I know still calls it G&L anyway. Bottom line, their food is so cheap, they practically give it away. Been going here since I was 4, and it's just tops. The food is amazing, it comes out fast, and its almost suspiciously cheep. On top of that, they send out coupons like leaves on a tree. And the locals and tourists alike take note. They fill up fast for lunch, so come early, or late. Also, say hi to the owner who works almost every day, right on the front lines, since I dunno when.
